Summary

Swarm is a single player rail shooter game made with our In-house Engine JazzEngine. It is the first game made by Elusive Tail and our first 3D game.

Fisrt Game in JazzEngine

Swarm was the first game made with our In-house engine JazzEngine. Since we wanted to use Unreal Enigne 4 as an editor we needed to use the Jazz Plugin. It was also our first 3D game which added a lot of new problems.

Level Design

During this project I was responsible for one of the three levels. Since I had to implement a lot of technical solutions I did not have as much time to do actual level design.

Level pipeline

I was responsible for the level pipeline and needed to make sure that we could work on our levels and export them correctly to the engine. That is why I was developing the Jazz Plugin alongside the game and updating it to whatever specific needs the engine had.

Closing Thoughts

This project I learned a lot about the level pipeline and how to communicate with the programmers to ensure that we both were satisfied with the solutions.
